Jewelry Made with Turquoise
Due to its relative softness, requires some care. Light, perspiration, oil, cosmetics and household chemicals can all affect the color of Turquoise.
A Turquoise ring should always be removed before hands are washed. In general the color is only stable if the stone is not exposed to strong light, high temperatures, perspiration, oil, cosmetics and household chemicals. A loss of its natural water content (18-20%) results in undesirable color-changes as well.
Jewelry Made with Tagua (vegitable ivory)
Tagua is a natural product so it is obviously susceptable to damage from harsh chemicals and extended prolonged exposure to the sun. Gentile rinsing with a mild soap and water is recommended only when the material becomes dirty.

Acai
Known by the natives as iç à-ç ai, the fruit that cries, is a small, round berry that grows on palm trees in the Amazon Rainforest. This palm tree produces cascading vines with bunches of small, round, deep dark red berries. Each berry has one seed. As one of the most nutritious fruits on the planet, Amazon natives have consumed acai berries for hundreds of years and its healing and sustaining powers are legendary. As an element of Brazilian jewelry, the berries are dried and dyed in many different colors, and used as beads for necklace, bracelets, earrings, etc.
Acai is also consumed in the form of creams, juices, ice creams, popsicles, liqueurs and often with grits or oatmeal as a complement to it's rich texture or mixed with berries or bananas.
Buriti seed
The buriti palm grows throughout central Brazil and the southern Amazon basin. The word "buriti" in Brazil means "tree of life." It requires a large space, about 30 feet apart, and a constantly humid soil. Traditionally the buriti fruit has been used as a food source. Parts of the buriti tree have also been used in construction and weaving. Buriti straw, after it is adequately processed is used to cover houses and make ropes, baskets, sieves, racks for cooking, skirts and jewelry such as bracelets.
Coconut shell
From the common coconut tree is widely used in the entire Amazonian region. The interior shell is used in jewelry. The fibrous outer shell is often used in the manufacture of textiles and fabrics as well as strings for jewelry.
Jarina (TAGUA)
(English: the ivory plant) also known as Vegetable Ivory: is primarily the dried seedpod of a palm tree that grows in tropical rainforests, or "marble of the Amazon." This beautiful white or cream seed comes from a palm tree native to South America. Each tree produces about 7 fruits a year, each containing about 10 seeds. When the fruit is ripe and falls to the ground, the seeds spill out, are collected and dried for almost three months in the tropical sun. It is dark brown in its natural state and requires a special polishing technique to bring up its beautiful cream color that is amazingly similar to the elephant's ivory, but is more dense and resilient. For over 200 years Tagua has been used by ivory carvers to make dice, chess and dominoes pieces. Tagua jewellery and watches are made from the dried and polished seeds. As Nature provides us with unique materials, each item carved from Tagua is ONE OF A KIND.
It was also used to make the finest buttons in the clothing industry. Presently it is used for beads and jewelry due to its dyeing properties. Tagua offers a welcome moral alternative to ivory trading. Vegetable ivory is readily available, a harvestable renewable resource and looks very similar to actual ivory. It offers South American countries a simple alternative to exploiting their natural resources.
Some indigenous peoples of South America used Tagua to represent the feminine because of its great magnet-like romantic energy. Each member of the tribe was given a tagua pendant to wear around his or her neck. The natives believed that persons wearing tagua would live in harmony and always be loved by their family and friends.

The safest approach is to wear the gemstone in skin contact to the troubled part of the body. Turquoise is said to be of help for heart ailments, sciatica, toenails problems and blisters.
